Some see it as glass half full, others see it as glass half empty; I choose to see it as a glass that can be replaced. If the glass breaks, just figure out how to replace it as opposed to squabbling over how full or empty it was or wasn’t. Life has choices and so many unexplored opportunities but we tend to cling on the familiar territories and miss out on some windows. Sometimes you just need to spread your wings and fly because that is what life is about.
My attire this week is a green polka dot midi length skirt which I set my eyes on and fell in love, bought several pieces, most of which I sold out. It is a tricky piece to wear and needs good balancing, otherwise it can add years to you and we don’t want that, do we? The top needs to be very fitting. An off shoulder navy blue top would come in handy; but then again my green tank top and a white unbuttoned shirt with a knot just inches above the waist looked ok. This brings out playful and mature under one roof. A red strappy high heel shoe compliments the look. I would opt for a bit laid back accessories given that the green is already attracting so much attention.
I am an ardent believer of the fact that sexy doesn’t necessarily mean short and tight and with that I experiment with lots of dress codes. It’s all about how you put the pieces together. This outfit is casual.
Motherhood is wonderful, and it’s lots of hard work. I would call it a full time job, inner joys being the reward. From the minute you wake up, wait, do you even sleep? Mothers can attest that the first few years of life are not all joys. Like seriously, who wants to change poop every few hours, and feed someone who doesn’t want to be fed. Where do teachers even get the patience to teach someone from scratch? I help my daughter with her school assignment and by the second page am so fed up! Two thumbs up to teachers, they deserve the salary increment by the government.
The nannies also deserve trophies, not just salary increment. They work like magicians; within seconds they have done tasks that would take mothers eternity especially involving the kids. We have to hide when its meal time, otherwise food time with mummy doubles up as play time and fussy moments.
I did a shoot with my little ones, thanks to my little diva who always wants to accompany me for my shoots and the below dress is what I picked. It is a decent long dress, the kind that I like wearing on Sundays for church or for those African or family events. I bought the dress at Jamia mall and it’s such a comfortable piece to be in. It’s a full dress, though it looks like it has a black lace top with a high collar, a zipper at the side and a waist cinching band. It has a rich color and has a silky touch, flowing to the floor.
Well well well, look who got us talking all week long; a woman who gifted her man with a car worth 10M. Mmmhh..I wasn’t really astonished by that seeing that we have so many women who give so much to the men in their lives. To me it‘s not a case of reversed role, rather the empowerment of the girl child and change of times. Our African culture is very conservative and still insists that women belong to the kitchen; but not anymore. In fact, nowadays we have more women in the boardrooms and I see nothing wrong. It warms the cockles of my heart to see women achievers.
So if you have someone that you love and have the means to spoil him, knock yourself out, to the moon and back and give us something to talk about as we brace the July cold, sipping our coffee, minding our own business (yeah right) and showcasing our cold weather dress code.
On the blog, this has got to be my favorite trench coat, blue trench coat. I find the blue royal, the touch gentle, the length appropriate, the look exquisite and serves its purpose perfectly. You can wear a light short dress or dress top beneath, black stockings and boots. The Aldo golden ankle boot gives some sparkle. It’s a casual wear appropriate for evenings or cold days. Keep warm this July, won’t you?
